Happy Halloween!!!!!!

Hey

Inspired by the creepy makeshift decorations that have spread around halls, and my flatmate attempting to carve the pumpkin I doodled a little drawing of my pumpykin man and here he is.....

But onto the more serious stuff here is my most recent 2d animation in which we had to animate a character jumping from a to b before interacting with a offscreen character, so I decided that my cubey would get incredibly excited jumping up and down waving, before jumping off screen and being pushed back on and consequently over.

Me, Myself and my Flatties

Hey bloggeees

I just wanted to post some of my recent doodles, just to show you a bit more about me, and I thought that whilst I was doing this I would show you which artists influence me.

<= Each doodle was either drawn straight from real life, or from a picture taken during the last week of uni, capturing how fun it really is to be a student, at UCF, where even pots and pans can  provide cheap and humorous entertainment.

And the guys and girls below represent me, my flatmates and our friends, making both hats and instruments out of kitchen utensils well until security shut us down for being to noisy, creativity isn't quiet is it.

The Below characters are just random devised characters, based on the idea of lost children and teddies slightly inspired by the idea of the 1990 tv series called the Forgotten Toys.

Below is some examples of the work from the artists and animators who are particularly inspiring to me.

Tim Burton

Peter Reynaulds

Rugrats

The Rugrats were a massive influence on my childhood and there simplistic character design featuring bright bold colours continues to influence my current work. Created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, the series ran from 1991 to 2004 focusing solely on the manic and adventurous daily adventures of Phil, lil, Angelica, Chuckie, and Tommy.

its all about the body language!

Hey

I just wanted to post some of my recent life drawings both from Kathy's life drawing and from the sketch book task she set.

These drawings range from 1 minute to 10 minute sketches.

The next drawings are some examples of my work from Kathy's sketchbook task, which involved us studying human body language and form and then replacing the human head with that of some sort of animal.

The above and the below image is in the style of Jill Murphy

In belows image i tried to capture Dr Seuss style which i think i managed quite well until i drew on the back of the image in sharpie which explains the protruding rabbit.

The next few are in the style of JJ Grandeville

Boarding for Animation!

Hey

I Just wanted to post some of my recent drawing based work.

The first was set by Derek and is for our story boarding module. The brief  was to do a short storyboard comprising of between 7 and 20 frames  in which two characters/objects are travelling, one slowly and one quickly, until they meet in the same location.

Although we dint have to base it on anything I choose to base mine of the old fable about a tortoise and a hare in which they both head out on a race, but the sly hare thinks that he is a shoe in to win and takes a nap which allows the tortoise to take the lead proving that slow and steady wins the race. However as the brief stated that the two characters should start from different locations I had my slow character starting off from just outside of the final locations, whereas the hare starts of at the opposite side of our setting lazing around at the beach, the sun setting proves that some time has gone by the tortoise is ever closer to the final destination when the hare suddenly becomes alarmed about the time and races down the stream on his boat to the final destination only to be beaten by the tortoise.

2d Bowling and Bouncing Balls

Hey,

Here is the 2d alternative to my light and heavy balls, The light ball is meant to be bouncing on a wooden or lino floor and the heavy ball is meant to be bouncing on carpet. However before even starting my 2d balls I planned each one out in a rough plan so I knew how the ball would creep across the screen.

for the lightball / football there is two videos for it as I filmed the first one upside down but quite liked the really bouncy effect it had despite the fact it moves in a more diagonal route across the screen, what are your thoughts do you prefer number 1. which features the ball bouncing the wrong way.

or clip 2. which features the ball bouncing the correct way?

and then the heavy ball/ bowling ball which falls on to carpet creating a small second bounce and then a roll.

Thanks for watching, feel free to leave any comments :)

Massive feeling of accomplishment!!!

Hey,

Right now im buzzing after finishing my first real attempt at animating a light and a heavy ball on Maya, - ahhh such a scary program, the golden rule dont upset her :) - anyway although they may not be perfect or anywhere near it, im proud of them ;).

The light ball was my first attempt and this definatly shows even if its just in the fact that when playblasting it its really small, and I left the Nurbs curves on but hey learning curve.

Im slightly happier with the heavy ball as I personally feel its quite realistic, despite the fact that it slighly stops before it rotates at the end, - something that took me a while to work out how to do it-

Thanks for watching and reading :)

Straight from My Sketchbooook!

Oh heey!,

Okay so technology actually despises me, I have just spent about an hour trying to get on to the internet, ahhh so much effort, but anyway, I thought I would post some of my work from last week, just to keep you in the loop.

Here is some examples of my first ever attempts at Life drawing,

The first is a quick one minute drawing

The second is a slightly more detailed two minute sketch
above is an eight minute continous line drawing with slight detail
and the last is a chalk drawing capturing the light.

Next up is my work from Kathy's Toy Story brief, in which we had to draw a toy in all sorts of locations and angles.

here is my small little spoon toy hiding behind a wooden mannakin looking onto my beautiful view.
above the spoon trying to escape confinements.
Again the spoon trying to escape.
The spoon being crushed by a heavy handed owner.
and lastly my little spoon chilling out on a bench.

Morphlings and clowns.

Hey,

My name is Ellie and this is my Animation Blog, which will hopefully chart my progress from Student to graduate of  Digital Animation at the University Collage of Falmouth.

For my first blog, im gonna post my attempt at the group morphling excercise.

I followed on from Emily who gave me a simple outline of a bird which I then morped into a clown by making the bird do a strange but effective cartwheel, below is the individual frames, my final piece and how I imagined my character would look like in colour.
